France will build a second European Pressurised Water Reactor (EPR), said President Sarkozy pledging a "new industrial revolution. The era of inexpensive oil is over. Every EPR saves every year 2 billion m3 of gas when it replaces a gas-fired power plant and eleven billion tonnes of CO2 when it replaces a coal-fired power plant. Nuclear power is more than ever an industry of the future and an essential form of energy." President Nicolas Sarkozy, on 3 July, at the Industeel plant in Le Creusot in the Burgundy region
“The European power supply must incorporate all energy sources including coal and gas, renewables, and nuclear energy to meet goals of environment protection and security of supply.”
